My Natural Hair Update

Don’t you love being able to do your own natural hair?  One of the reasons I wanted to go natural was to be able to handle my own hair.  Although, it was a bit trying at first, I have a handle on my hair now.  I have a relatively small list of styles, but hey I am working on more.☺  I have discovered that the real key is having the right products.  I am amazed at how much it has grown, since I have cut out the chemicals and the heat.  The longer it gets the easier it is for me to work with.  I will still go to my stylist for trims and occasional hair style, but mainly my hair is mine to work with.  Stay tuned for my bag of tricks used in styling my natural hair.  For now happy styling.  I would love to hear from you on how working with your natural hair is going.  Drop me a line!

Peace,
Tywana

It seems that the only hair style I have is a ‘fro and twists. I would like to switch up, but don’t have any ideas. Suggestions?

I went natural in November and I have had a hard time of it. My natural hair is thick and dry. It is growing and getting harder to comb out in the mornings. I also exercise and swim daily, so this means I am having to wash it more often. I have tried many products, natural olive oil, soy, etc. I have an added problem of allergies. I am allergic to chemical fragrance, so I can use the regular black hair care products. Everything has to be all natural and hypoallergenic. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it. I never thought my natural hair would be this diffucult to care for.

Thanks for this little vignette on natural hair. My daughter is African-from Kenya to be exact-and managing her hair has been my greatest learning curve! I admit, it’s still quite a work in progress. However, I have decided that chemicals are the PITTS! I started using products from this website last year–and her hair just blossomed! But out of ‘lack of styles’ I gave in recently and tried a kids texture relaxer. Wow, what a mistake. Now I am trimming it every week just to slowly get the bad out and let the good come back. However, I am at a loss as to what ‘natural’ hair styles will work with her, other than short Afro–which looks absolutely adorable–but a style would be nice too! NATURAL TIPS NEEDED!!!! Blessings, Heth

Yes, I understand what you are saying about eliminating the chemicals from your hair. I also understand about the limitations on the hair styles for natural hair. Regarding this, I do use a flat iron during the winter months whenever I wash my hair. During the summers when it is hot and humid, I enjoy not using any of it.

    Grace & Peace

I have recently decided to go natural and I really want to stick with it. My last relaxer was in March and I don’t have the urge to get another relaxer. I decided to get some hair braided in just to the back for awhile (especialy for the summer) and I am going to get alot of leave in moisturizer. Wish me well in my new journey.

I haven’t had a relaxer in 5 years and I love, my curly locks! I’m very happy to hear so many of my sista’s are leaving the chemicals behind. I do understand the need to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize, and that seems to be my big problem. My hair is still very dry. Where I live black hair care products aren’t redily available, so I rely heavily on the internet to search out new products. I recently found your products and I can’t wait to try them. I hope to have found the answer!
