Hello Tywana,
Congrates on your 1 yr of freedom. I have been natural for approx the same time. My hair has grown and I am happy with the health of my hair. I am keeping it in braids until it is long enough to french braid. One thing I did do was put a texturizing in my hair to loose it up just a little. The texturizer was not enough to note the difference. I think in about 8 more more months I will have acheived the growth I desire (to french braid)and completely eliminate the braids all together.

I just read your email about your hairaversay/nappiversary and I wanted to wish you a great big congratulations. I celebrate with you, no more living the lye and chemical free is the way to be! Isn't it great? Honestly, there is nothing more empowering than feeling the springy coils that sprout from the top of your head. I feel so sexy and beautiful with my hair in it's natural state, I know you do too. Congrats again!

I think it's great your loving your natural hair! I've been chemical free for two years and over that time, my curly afro has just grown out into a little ponytail. And I always have the same hairstyle pulled back in one, tied at the end and clipped into place. It's quite neat but lacks for versitality. I had it pressed twice in the past month and that along with a trip to the beach for a few days though has left the ends breaking up in masse. So I guess, the breaking up is little different from when my hair was relaxed.

But yours looks really great. Very simple. You can put a bando in it, or a decorative clip. I think that will look very nice.
